First day of 5 1/2 weeks of Radiation

Feb 25, 2009

Today we had out first day of radiation.

The schedule sets up to run through April 4th. Five days a week.

During each treatment, I lay on this super comfy table and get to listen to country music. My favorite... (Neither of those is true by the way.) So I lay on this table and a mask is placed over my head to guide the radiation rays concentrating in and around the tumor. This process lasts for approx. 10-15 minutes.

It is a little claustrophobic at first, because the mask is connected to the table, but I have, unfortunately, gotten use to it.

Dr. Rose, our Radiation Oncologist, had an encouraging conversation with Paul this afternoon. He asked since the Gamma Knife on the 2nd, has the tumor grown or shrunk?

The Dr. indicated that it had not grown, (incredible awesome news) and that it was hard to tell, because of the MRI (done on the 2nd) and the CT scan (done on the 19th), are hard to compare as they are differnet scans, but it looks like it has shrunk a little. Excellent news...

So know I look forward to each treatment and keeping positive through each treatment that the tumor is shrinking and it will not win!
