My wifey-a true athlete

It is 8:30-9:01 pm, I finished putting the kids to bed and Marni is out for a walk with Kimberly, one of our many awesome neighbors.

Marni would kill me if she knew what I was about to write, but what the hell.

She has been walking every night for about a month now. Insane! I am super proud of her that she is so motivated to get out and exercise.

For me, I have seen a considerable improvement in her attitude and playfulness- hell she even laughed at a joke I made tonight…. I continue to see a bit more of my wifely that I married a little more after each walk....

The other night she came home with the look in her eyes of a true athlete.

She tripped and fell on her walk...

It didn’t deter her from finishing; and it didn’t discourage her from going out the next night to walk or even the next or the next or even tonight…

She continues to go and get it done....

The night of what I like to call “the athlete is born!” She walked into the house; I think I was washing dishes or doing some other super ultra crazy cleaning job like polishing silver goblets or sewing a button on Finn’s pajamas. It seems to be a nice mental break for me…Anyway, she looked me square in the face and said, "I tripped and fell tonight on our walk!"

As she pulled up her sweats to show me the victory wounds, the excitement grew over my face, and I began to giggle with delight.

First off- I know what everyone is thinking, "Paul, you ass…for the love of god you son of a bitch, the women has a brain tumor. Give her a break…"

But I giggled with delight not because she fell and had a few scuffs, a little blood and a whole lot of bruises.

I giggled with delight, because my wife- with one of the worst brain tumors possible was out in the darkness of the night walking, living life and getting it done.

She was just plain and simple getting it done!

Let me explain---for any athlete a fall or some kind of physical body shutdown is expected…hell it is almost as good as winning...

In fact, it is a sign that you are in the game. You’re out there living life, giving it your all and living it to the fullest; scuffs, a little blood and even a whole lot of bruises.

So I giggle with delight when she walks through the door each time, patiently waiting for her to tell me about her escapades...out in the darkness while getting it done
